What is ikasu?

Kimonos with a second life.

It is said that a huge number of kimonos and obis are kept in Japanese households. However, more and more families are discarding their kimonos and obis without passing them on to the next generation because they are never worn, difficult to care for and take up storage space. ikasu is strongly committed to making the most of kimonos and obis, with the idea that they are not just clothes, but also precious memories of their owners, beautiful works of art by kimono artists and the pride of Japanese traditional culture. I work on my creations with a strong desire to make the most of the kimono.

Also known as "the art of wearing", kimonos are unique pieces of art that are woven, dyed, embroidered and decorated by hand using traditional Japanese techniques. We embrace and respect the history, techniques, patterns and stories of each piece, transforming them into works of art suitable for contemporary spaces.
